Nobel Prize in Chapel Hill

October 9th, 2007 · No Comments

Congrats to UNC Chapel Hill Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Oliver Smithies, who was named one of three Nobel Prize honorees chosen for developing a technology for manipulating genes in mice to replicate human diseases.

I enjoyed this note from the N&O…”Smithies still works in his lab seven days a week. He took time on Sunday to fly his glider over Chapel Hill then went back to work, crafting a reply to committee that recently turned down his grant proposal.”

It’s good to see that UNC-Chapel Hill is back in the news for something other than basketball and football. Keep it up, Chapel Hill.

Peace,
BD
