Tough road ‘W’ for the Heels last night…

Game Balls - Deon Thompson, Wayne Ellington, Bob Frasor

I have to say that I give Bob Frasor a game ball due to heady floor play.

A friend of mine emailed me with the note that Frasor “struggles with his shot when saddled with playing point. He is far more comfortable at the two.” I would tend to agree. Yet, I say that without seeing the stats.

As I have mentioned before, Frasor is a natural two. I think the guy has been playing out of position for two years now. Considering that he hasn’t ran a lot at the point this season, he did a helluva job running the show.

Yes, he shot bad, but I probably should give him a game towel and hand the ball to Wayne Ellington.

In terms of developing point play, I have to say that I was shocked at Quentin Thomas’s play. I do remember looking at Coach Williams’s reactions and they weren’t pleasant as well. For Tar Heel fans, you probably hope that ‘Q’ steps his game up over the next month. When he plays well, the team runs a far more versatile offensive attack, and he can face-check with the best.

This blogga still loves the versatility of the Heels, but North Carolina an ankle away from the big “speed adjustment” when Lawson is out.

** Thinking about the lopsided results of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, as a fan, I’m saying that the results are due to a down year within the Big Ten.

Yet, I couldn’t help wondering whether or not the event is still a good match-up tournament. Is it time for ESPN to re-schedule the event with a ACC/SEC matchup or a rekindling job with the ACC/Big East.

I also don’t believe that the ACC will be involved with any Big East Challenge after the exodus of BC and Miami. Big East Commissioner, Mike Tranghese is still bitter at that one…And I’m wondering if the SEC could hang with the ACC in a full conference match-up.

From a fan’s perspective, I would especially enjoy a ACC/PAC-10 match-up.
I would love to see the East Coast media bias claims settled. I also believe that the blend of athletics and academics of the Pac-10 parallels that of the ACC. Yet, I think that the event couldn’t be pulled off due to travel…However, that’s just a knee-jerk thought.

Maybe I’m just hoping for a perennial UNC/UCLA match-up. I really believe that Ben Howland has the UCLA program on point for a long-run elite level run.

** Wayne Ellington is beastslaying…He his hitting 3s on pivotal possessions. He is really turning it on.

I just hope that back-bruise doesn’t affect him much in that Kentucky game. We need him.

On to Lexington,
